Short biography

Alessandro Cerutti was born in Turin on 14/05/1981, he graduated in Natural Sciences (undergraduate level 1) in 2004 by a vote of 110 and 110 cum laude. In 2007 he obtained the master degree in Evolution and Diversity of Natural Systems with a vote of 110 and 110 cum laude, with dignity and print mention of the Academic Senate as the best thesis for the degree course for the year 2006/2007. In 2011 he obtained a PhD in Agricultural Sciences and Forestry at the Department of Arboriculture. He works to combine aspects of environmental research with the applied agricultural sciences. In particular, the main line of research is the validation and development of environmental assessment methods, such as the Ecological Footprint, Life Cycle Assessment and Carbon Footprint in food systems. It also applies innovative methods of assessment of environmental impacts related to food consumption in the GERME project, funded by the Research Institute Carlo Alberto. He is author or co-author of over 25 scientific and popular publications on Italian and international journals. Since 2008 he has been co-tutor of 5 thesis on the topic of environmental assessment in food production. He has participated or participates in research projects of the European Union, Regional, National and Regional Parks, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry (MiPAAF). He is a reviewer for these international journals: Journal of Cleaner Production, Environmental Engineering and Management Journal and Sustainability.
