Short biography

Since 2001, I work as a researcher at the Centre for Sustainable Development of Ghent University (Belgium). My research interests include the politics of sustainable development, governance approaches, the role of civil society and North-South issues of sustainability. During the last few years, my research has turned to sustainability transitions and transition governance. My PhD dissertation A Winding Road. Transition Management, Policy Change and the Search for Sustainable Development (2013) analysed the influence of transition management on regular policy, with case studies in housing and building and in materials management. Between 1993 and 2001, I worked as a policy analyst, lobbyist and campaigner for a Belgian NGO network on sustainable development. I have a PhD in political science, and masters degrees in economics and in language and literature.
