Dr. Iris Kunze

Dr. Iris Kunze is a social geographer and sociologist and senior researcher at the Center for Global Change and Sustainability at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU), Vienna, currently involved mainly in the FP7-project TRANSIT on social innovation; after serving as a post-doc for coordinating the doctoral school of sustainable development (dokNE) and researching on concepts of human-nature-relationship in landscape related sustainability processes at BOKU. In 2008 Iris Kunze co-founded the Institute for Integral Studies, Freiburg. From 2001-11 Dr. Kunze was a research and teaching fellow at the Institute of Sociology at the University of Muenster completing her Diploma and PhD during that time. Her special focus lies in the areas of sustainability research, community research, social movements, ecovillage living and intentional communities, transition studies, social ecology, governance and socialization. Having used also quantitative survey methods she works intensively with grounded theory and qualitative approaches.
