Jörn Hoppmann began his doctorate studies in Prof. Volker Hoffmann’s Chair of Sustainability and Technology at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), Zurich, in January 2010.
Jörn holds a joint degree in mechanical engineering and business administration from the Technical University of Braunschweig (Germany). During his studies, he spent time at the University of Waterloo (Ontario, Canada) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Cambridge, Massachusetts). At MIT, he conducted research on innovation and organizational learning at the Lean Advancement Initiative. Besides, he was part of the core organization committee for the first student-organized MIT Sustainability Summit which was held in April 2009.
Jörn gained practical experience during internships with Porsche Consulting, Stuttgart, and the Boston Consulting Group, Frankfurt. Prior to joining the Chair of Sustainability and Technology, Jörn worked as a Research Associate at the Forum for Corporate Sustainability Management of IMD Business School (Lausanne, Switzerland) where he focused on investigating corporate strategies for climate change.
During his studies, Jörn received scholarships from several institutions, including the German National Academic Foundation, the German Academic Exchange Service and the Dr.-Jürgen-Ulderup-Stiftung.
